Every week, Child Care Resources will publish The Bored Jar blog, which will provide you with ideas of activities to do with the children in your care. We know that much of the correspondence we send has to do with rules and regulations, but The Bored Jar will only be filled with fun activities. Whenever you’re bored with your kids, try some of our Bored Jar ideas!
Magnet Magic
Supplies:
- towel
- jar or bottle filled with water
- magnet
- paper clips
- small bowl
Place several paper clips into a jar or bottle filled with water. The idea behind this is to have kids fish out the paperclips using the magnet. You may want to start by pointing out that the magnet needs to be held flat against the glass so the paper clip will move. Have kids start with the magnet flat against the glass at the bottom of the bottle/jar. Move the magnet up the glass. The paper clip will slide up too. Once at the top, take the paper clip out by reaching into the bowl. Place wet paper clips into a bowl or onto a towel. Continue fishing until all of the paper clips are out.
