PAS: the Program Administration Scale

A Missoula area child care participated in the free Program Administration Scale (PAS) training this past February and she is taking the project to heart!

In a recent visit, this child care described all the remarkable changes, as well as a new administration plan that had been implemented by the director and Board. For the first time in several years, this child care plans to offer a wage increase, rather than a bonus to employees. They also found a way to offer health insurance for the first time. The director is creating a new staff evaluation tool and tying it to the employees’ job descriptions.

All of these changes are a direct result of the provider’s participation in the Program Administration Scale (PAS) training. After the course, the provider completed a self-assessment and a Quality Improvement Plan based on the self-assessment. While this child care is participating in STARS, they are not receiving incentives. However, anyone can see that the vast improvement of the program is incentive enough!
