Not sure on what an RSS feed is? An RSS feed (which most commonly stands for Really Simple Syndication) is basically a more modern from of a ListServ, allowing you to reach a group of people all at once. The difference is that people must subscribe to the RSS feed to receive the information, instead of receiving a mass email. When something new is published to the RSS feed, those who are subscribed will receive a notice in their RSS reader notifying them that we have posted something new. Learn more about RSS feeds >>

You will want to use an RSS reader, which is a very simple way to view all of your feeds at the same time. If you’re using Internet Explorer 8, it has an RSS reader built in. If you use Firefox, it has Live Bookmarks that works as an RSS reader. For either of these, all you have to do is click the link to subscribe to an RSS, and any updates will feed into your RSS reader. There are also many other RSS readers available. YouTube

YouTubeThere are over one billion videos viewed on YouTube each day! Child Care Resources has created a YouTube channel! We are producing videos that explain the importance of a strong early childhood, quality early learning environments, children’s development and more. We will use this channel to upload our videos, and hopefully spread the knowledge that strong early childhood care and education builds the foundation for future learning, and lifelong success.

Delicious

DeliciousDelicious is a social bookmarking service, where you can bookmark web pages of interest and share them with other people. So, when you visit CCR’s Delicious profile, you can browse the web pages we’ve bookmarked and hopefully find them as useful as we have! You do not need to login or create an account in order to view CCR’s Delicious profile.

Folders were the old way to organize bookmarks. They were great if you only had a few bookmarks, and a few folders, but as your collection grew, it became harder and harder to decide what goes where. Delicious has a new and more effective way to organize bookmarks: tags. Tags are essentially different headings or classifications that the bookmarks are saved under. Child Care Resources’ Delicious profile features tags such as Family Resources, Child Care Provider Resources, Early Childhood Reports, Children’s Nutrition, Parent Resources, Child Care Licensing and more. Under each tag, we will bookmark pages of interest that will be helpful to our clients. The best part about bookmarking specific web pages is that we will dig down in the website and bookmark the specific web page that’s useful, instead of just sending you to the homepage of the website and having to navigate on your own. For instance, one tag is for Scholarship Forms, so for ease of access, we’ve bookmarked the specific pages on the State’s website with the necessary forms.

We will also use the Delicious profile to specifically update two time sensitive topics: Child Care Related News and Recalls. Whenever there is local press coverage for Child Care Resources or the early childhood industry, we will bookmark the articles. Or if a national article of importance is released, we’ll share it on Delicious. Product recalls frequently occur that may affect child care providers, such as high chairs or cribs. We know the safety of the children on your care is a number one priority, so we will try to keep you apprised of any recalls that may affect your business.

We will add new bookmarks to our Delicious profile every week, so check back often to see what new resources we’ve found for you! The old bookmarks we’ve added will also still be available. As we continue to bookmark new web pages, our Delicious resources will grow.

If you are subscribed to a useful early childhood blog, have a favorite website for healthy children’s recipes, or any other website that would be good to share, we encourage you to email us the link at ccr@childcareresources.org so we can add the bookmark to our Delicious profile.
