Types of Child Care
Family Child Care
Family Child Care facilities are registered for up to six children and usually are housed within the homes of the individual child care professionals. One adult over the age of 18 cares for up to six children; no more than three of the children may be under the age of two.Group Child Care
Group Child Care facilities are registered for up to 12 children but are also usually housed within the home of the primary child care professional. Two adults over the age of 18 care for up to 12 children; no more than six of the children may be under the age of two. A family or group home may be registered to allow some overlap time when they can take extra children at specific hours of the day such as before and after school.Child Care Centers
Child Care Centers are licensed for 13 or more children based on the staff ratios listed below.Staffing ratios are based on the ages of the children in their care.

Child Care Centers usually operate in a facility outside of a person’s home. Typically children are arranged in rooms based on the age of the child, they have multiple staff and a center director.
